Introducing me.
I love to shoot people, photographically speaking; I want to become a portraitist. If I look back, there were not professional photographers to look up in my family. There was no one to teach me techniques or how to use any photographic equipment. In fact, I wasn’t even allowed to touch the cameras that my family had because they were afraid that I could expose the film and destroy their content. I now had some experience shooting film and I understand the difficulties that it brings but still they never gave me a chance to try. So you might think, why photography? I never had the experience to shoot anything when I was little but I do remember going into my grandmas closet and looking for those old and big albums full of family photos. I could spend hours looking at the pictures and imagining how their lives were at that year. Sometimes amused by the type of haircuts that they had or surprised by the clothes that they were wearing. Time passes by so quickly changing everything and with photography we have a beautiful way to preserve memories and to document times. I enjoyed the actual photographs and loved hearing the story behind them. But even if I liked photographs, to become a photographer wasn’t a priority for me. I believe I wasn’t inspired to become a photographer because growing up in a small town in Mexico there was only one photographer in town and he was a male. In fact, all the photographers that I knew were older males. There was no opportunity for young people because they had no experience. I didn’t feel any attraction on becoming a photographer until 2006. I went to a party and the photographers were a couple. I remember seeing the young girl taking photographs and thinking “That’s not even a job, she’s photographing at a party where there’s music, food, and she is doing what she loves, I want to do that, I want to work on something that I love, and have fun doing it.” Seeing her with a camera made me realize that I’ve had always an admiration for photography, and that also young people had opportunities in that field. Since that day I considered studying photography. And here I am, after all this time wanting to become a photographer, finally got the chance to start taking photography classes. In this website that I'm working on I'll display some of the works that I've been doing for my foundation classes. This is just the beginning; I’m working really hard to improve, to be better, photographically and personally, "working on something that I love” because I’m having fun with every photo I take.
